25 June – 3 July 2016 (8 nights)
This tour to the Staats Oper Ring in Berlin (staged at the Schiller Theatre) was conducted by maestro Daniel Barenboim, and began with Das Rheingold on Saturday 25th June, and concluded with Götterdämmerung on Saturday 2nd July.
Opera friends were met at the airport of their choice in Berlin and checked into a newly refurbished boutique hotel in the city centre. In addition to the full Ring, clients also attended concerts conducted by Donald Runnicles (including an excerpt from Strauss’s Capriccio) and Daniel Barenboim (including Beethoven’s 3rd Symphony).
Opera friends also attended a performance of Massenet’s Cendrillon (the first production of this delightful opera in Berlin); and there was an opportunity to visit the Reichstag.
There was also our celebrated gala dinner, and Opera friends were offered plenty of time (and advice) for sight-seeing in Berlin.
